Titling

In many countries, practitioners are called Physiotherapists or called physiotherapists. In some other countries, a new word is used: kinesiologist.

The World Physiotherapy (WP) asserts the exclusivity of using the professional name of “Physiotherapy. Additionally, the professional title “Physiotherapist” and its related abbreviations (e.g.: “PT”, “FT”, “Physio”) should be only conserved to persons holding the approved and appropriate qualifications.

It is also advised that protected titles can be used in conjunction with a descriptor.
For the title of Doctor of Physiotherapy, the abbreviation DPT is used as suffix.
