Who can work in Lebanon

According to the prevailing law, physical therapists are not allowed to work and practice physiotherapy in Lebanon unless they are registered as member in LOPT.
LOPT is responsible of registering physical therapists and physical therapy students, working to develop codes, standards, and professional guidelines, handling complaints, conducting investigations and organizing disciplinary hearings, assessing practice qualifications and approving standards for the study of Physiotherapy in Lebanon.

Registration as a member in LOPT requires the fulfillment of the following conditions :

  • The Physical therapist should be a Lebanese citizen
  • He must hold a four-year Bachelor Degree (B.S) in physical therapy from a renowned and officially recognized university
  • He shouldn’t be sentenced previously
  • He must hold a practice license of physiotherapy from the Ministry of Public Health.
  • He must have completed his twenty-first years of age

Foreign physical therapists can apply for membership if they fulfill the sub-mentioned conditions but are not eligible to elect and be elected afterwards.
